AFA Record - March 2004

The report below was originally published in the March 2004 issue of the AFA Record.

The London Legal League is into the home straight, and the Division One title has fallen to KPMG. Early leaders, Baker & MacKenzie reeled off eight straight wins before Christmas, but since then their collapse has been spectacular, with seven defeats in the final half of the season.

The title therefore came down to a fight between KPMG and Slaughter and May, and KPMG always managed to keep their rivals just at a distance. The biggest fallers of the season have been one-time powerhouse Denton Wilde Sapte, whose inability to regularly field a side has led to their results being expunged.

The Division Two title remains up for grabs at time of writing. Dechert have completed their fixtures, and are guaranteed promotion, but both Norton Rose and Richards Butler have games in hand and can catch them. The two clubs play each other in what might well prove to be a winner-takes-all matchup, with the losers not even taking a promotion spot.

Division Three has fallen to Mishcon de Reya, in only their second season in the league, whilst the second promotion spot remains up for grabs.

The Challenge Cup Final, between Linklaters and Watson, Farley & Williams will be held on Tuesday 23rd March, at Dulwich Hamlet F.C.
